<div class="textbox"> [[Writing with Digital Media: Final |2]] </div><div class="textbox"> This semester has given me the opportunity to explore a wide range of digital media programs, including Twine, remixing poems on Neocites, Git Bash, and Bitsy. Each program appeared more distinctly different than the others with its own strengths and limitations, and I found myself learning something new from each one. Out of all of them, Twine became my favorite because of its simplicity, flexibility, and the many sorts of options that were given when it came to the [[overall program.|3]] </div><div class="textbox"> It was difficult to write about it originally because I didn’t know how to illustrate a ballon artist. What kept me most interested in this idea was not just due to the uncommonness of the occupation, but also the additional topic I was given by making the main character a shut-in. This combination of an uncommon occupation and the personal struggles of the main character gave me a chance to experiment with storytelling in a way [[I had not tried before.|5]] </div><div class="textbox"> Since I’ve already had some experience with Twine for the past couple of years, I felt more confident using it and was able to explore more features than I had in the past. For this final project, I had chosen Twine since I wanted to present this assignment in more of an essay type format while keeping it somewhat playable. One of the projects I worked on with Twine was titled //Balloon Animals//, I had originally chosen its given plot due to the writing prompt game we had done in class. When I had finally received my list of options, the occupation “Balloon Artist” had stuck out to me due to how uncommon it was [[to hear of such.|4]] </div>(enchant: ?passage's chars, via (t8n-delay:pos * 26) +(t8n-skip:100s) + (t8n:'instant')) <div class="textbox"> In addition to experimenting with these programs, we also practiced journaling throughout the semester. Personally, I don't often do a lot of journaling, so it was all new to me since I don’t usually keep a daily record of my thoughts. At first, it was difficult to reflect on the spot, but the daily charts helped me think more carefully about what I had done each day. This practice showed me how journaling can be a useful tool for [[organizing ideas and moments that might be forgotten.|6]] </div><div class="textbox"> Even though journaling felt unfamiliar at first, I came to appreciate how it could support creative projects by giving me and others the option to experiment with ideas before committing to a larger project. With regard to the other type of programs we used during the semester, I would say that I found it unique to learn about Git Bash as it was in a program I was not at all familiar with compared to the others. Unlike the other programs, it felt more technical, but I enjoyed discovering how it connected directly to the files on my computer. A part of me enjoyed playing around with Git Bash as it gave me an idea on how digital tools can reveal new ways of [[interacting with different systems.|7]] </div><div class="textbox"> While it had about little to do with storytelling, it allowed the user to have a bit of a more understanding about the structure behind digital work. As it’s a reminder that even the organization of files and folders can hold many memories, and digital writing often depends on understanding the systems that support it. The use of digital platforms allows stories to be shared in different multiple formats, whether it’s visual, auditory, or interactive, it makes them [[more accessible to different audiences.|8]] </div><div class="textbox"> Digital writing in itself may require a bit of technical skills, patience, and creativity as well as attention to its accessibility, since audiences may engage with media in different ways. Overall, this semester has shown me that [[digital media is an addition of writing|9]] rather than separate from something traditional. </div><div class="textbox"> Twine, and the other programs used, allowed for opportunities to see how writing can evolve and connect with audiences in creative and [[meaningful ways.|10]] </div> <div class="textbox"> By experimenting with different platforms, practicing journaling, and learning technical systems like Git Bash, I gained a deeper understanding of how digital media can transform writing into something more accessible and engaging.
